About the show
On June 26, a special musical event will take place in Lviv - the concert "Jazz under Frank's Pear" performed by one of the brightest jazz voices in Ukraine, Pavlo Ilnytsky. The event will be held in a cozy courtyard in the Franko House (Lviv National Literary and Memorial Museum of Ivan Franko).
This will be Lviv retro in the incredibly atmospheric garden of the museum, where the music sounds especially warm and close. The audience will have a unique chance to hear real Ukrainian jazz performed live, among the greenery, history and tranquility of Franko House.
The program is based on the most famous jazz songs of Bohdan Vesolovsky, the legendary Ukrainian composer who shaped the sound of Lviv's pop music of the interwar period. The author, who combined European dance genres - tango, foxtrot, waltz - with Ukrainian melody and poetic lyrics. His music is the voice of the era and at the same time a living emotion that sounds modern and today.
The performer of the program is Pavlo Ilnytsky, often called the "Lviv Frank Sinatra". A Ukrainian singer, multi-instrumentalist and frontman of the jazz groups The Impressions Jazz Quintet and Vesolovsky Project, he is known for his sophisticated manner of performance and deep sense of style. He is one of the key popularizers of Ukrainian retro jazz today.
The concert program will feature both famous compositions by Vesolovsky and new songs performed by the best jazzmen of Ukraine, creating a bridge between the past and the present. The atmospheric garden of the museum and the summer courtyard will become an ideal space where music and history merge into one whole.
